PrintCOLUMBIA — A Columbia man pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing child porn on Monday.
The conviction was a collaborative effort of federal, state and local law enforcement, according to a release from the Mid-Missouri Internet Crimes Task Force.
The investigation began in March of 2008, when Customs and Immigration Enforcement officers identified Max John Boneta, 50, downloading child pornography from the Internet, the release said.
A federal court ordered a search warrant on April 2, 2009, which resulted in the confiscation of pictures showing naked children ages 9 to 12, the release said. Jefferson City police arrested Boneta on March 16 and turned him over to Boone County prosecutors.
Boneta faces up to 14 years in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 12.
