Richardson's long-range goal highlights Missouri soccer loss

Missouri freshman Dominique Richardson is proving to be a dangerous long-range shooter.

After barely missing a two long attempts in the Missouri women's soccer game against Belmont, Richardson connected from 25 yards away in Sunday's game against No. 16 Maryland.

"I looked up and saw it was going in, and I kind of got the chills," Richardson said.

The goal gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead but Maryland responded with three straight goals. Maryland won 3-2.

The Tigers tried to rally with Alysha Bonnick's goal in the 77th minute.

"I was really proud of our girls because when we went down 3-1 after getting on the board first, they responded with great pressure and a goal," head coach Bryan Blitz said. "We showed some great stuff today especially with the goal by freshman Dominique Richardson."

Missouri's game against Maryland became the team's season opener because Friday's game against Belmont was canceled after 30 minutes of play because of inclement weather.
