COLUMBIA — Two officers responding to a disturbance at Galactic Fun Zone, 3412 Grindstone Parkway, at about 1 a.m. Sunday observed about 10 shots fired from a moving vehicle across the street at 3220 Bluff Creek Drive.
According to the release, a woman was attacked by six other women, one of whom used a knife "or some other sharp weapon" and inflicted a 4- to 6-inch cut on her neck that was not life-threatening.
The Columbia Police Department officers were waiting for backup to disperse the large crowd in the parking lot when they observed the shots being fired across the street. Police said witnesses described the vehicle as a light-colored, older sedan occupied by two to four males.
Police said they found several shell casings and found that the building on Bluff Creek had been hit with gunfire. The release also stated that officers believed they heard three to four shotgun shots near the Galactic Fun Zone.
While investigating the shots fired, two more assaults occurred in the parking lot of the Galactic Fun Zone.
The other, the release said, involved 20-30 unknown people "jumping" an 18-year-old male, who suffered minor injuries.
Police also arrested two people on suspicion of trespassing for refusing to leave the property.
Police said they don't know any motive involved in the shooting and are continuing to investigate.
