Racers arriving at first checkpoint of Missouri River 340

The Missouri River 340 is under way.

Racers have begun arriving at various checkpoints on the race course.  Boat 1458, “Easy Living,” is leading the race. The riders in that boat are West Hansen of Austin, Texas, and David Kelly of San Rafael, Calif.

Dragon boat “Beauties and Barnacles” left the first checkpoint in Lexington, Mo., at 1:24 p.m. and was in sixth place at that point.

Boats are predicted to arrive at Cooper's Landing near Columbia around 2:40 a.m. Wednesday. They are projected to continue to arrive throughout the early morning.
