MU announced Wednesday that a new space designated for tailgating would open for the coming football season.
The university and the Missouri Students Association came to a compromise over the new spot after MU closed "Frat Pit" and Reactor Field to tailgaters last year. The conditions include:
- Reserved spaces are available only to student organizations.
- Vehicles are prohibited.
- The lot will open four hours before kickoff and will close at kickoff.
- Everything must be cleared three hours after the game.
- Glass, kegs, coolers over 70 quarts, hard alcohol, sharing of alcohol or excessive drinking are prohibited.
The conditions were designed to discourage irresponsible behavior, chief among them drinking and driving. Parking will be available in the Virginia Avenue, Turner Avenue and Conley Avenue parking garages.
But despite these restrictions, MSA members are confident that students will receive the new spot positively.
What do you think about the new tailgating spot for students?
