COLUMBIA - The Missouri volleyball team started the season beating Maryland in three sets on Friday night at the Tiger Invitational tournament.
The Tigers beat the Terrapins 25-21, 27-25 and 25-21.
“I feel that we started strong…stronger than last year,” senior Paola Ampudia said.
Freshmen Molly Kreklow and Lisa Henning both had a strong first match. Kreklow, a setter, put up 36 total assists and outside hitter Henning lead the team with 12 kills.
“It’s a tough thing to come in at this level and be a freshman," said head coach Wayne Kreklow. "Talk about baptism by fire.”
Senior Caitlyn Vann lead the team with 19 digs while senior Julianna Klein added another 12 digs.
The Tigers play Nevada at noon on Saturday and Utah Valley at 6:30 p.m.
Both matches will be played at The Hearnes Center.
