Once No. 1 North Carolina got started, the Missouri women's soccer team couldn’t keep up.
The Tigers (0-3) lost 6-1 on Sunday in Chapel Hill, N.C., to leave the Carolina Nike Classic without a win.
North Carolina freshman Crystal Dunn said the Tar Heels "started off slow," but with two goals late in the first half, North Carolina took the lead.
Missouri senior forward Alysha Bonnick kept Missouri close with a goal in the 47th minute before North Carolina distanced itself with goals in the 64th, 73th, 74th, 84th minutes.
Missouri was outshot in the game 32 to 15.
“We kind of let our guard down and got tired; it won’t happen again,” Bonnick said in a phone interview. “We learned a lot from this game.”
