COLUMBIA — Missourian reporter Mary Daly will be blogging live during the Columbia City Council's final work session on the proposed budget for fiscal 2011 on Monday night.

The council for weeks has been looking for ways to pare down the $385.5 million spending plan unveiled by City Manager Bill Watkins in late July. Possible targets for cuts include spending on meals and travel and eliminating the council's traditional $100,000 contingency fund.

The work session began at 6 p.m. in Conference Rooms 1A and 1B of the new City Hall Addition.

Readers can find Daly's blog posts on The Watchword, a Missourian blog that deals with city and county government.
