ST. LOUIS — Both U.S. senators from Missouri and several St. Louis-area officials are in China this week as part of an effort to lure a freight transit hub to Lambert Airport.
Republican Sen. Kit Bond and Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill are joined by members of the Midwest China Hub Commission. While in China, the Missouri contingent is meeting with government and airline officials.
Commission chairman Mike Jones told KWMU radio the commission would like to set a date for Chinese officials to visit St. Louis next month. That's when St. Louis officials hope to sign a final agreement.
