COLUMBIA — Missouri track and field coach Brett Halter  named Teri Cantwell as an assistant coach Tuesday.

Terri Cantwell, who is married to former Tigers shot putter Christian Cantwell , will specialize in the throws and horizontal and vertical jumps.

"I believe Teri is one of the finest coaches that I have ever been around," Halter said in a release. "Her enthusiasm, positive coaching style and never-say-never attitude, coupled with her contagious smile and personal accomplishments in the sport, would be welcome to any staff in the country."

Terri Cantwell participated in the shot put at the 2000 Olympics and won two NCAA titles in the shot at Southern Methodist University.
