JEFFERSON CITY — Former Republican state Sen. Betty Sims of St. Louis County has been appointed to the Missouri Coordinating Board for Higher Education.
Gov. Jay Nixon announced the appointment Wednesday. The Coordinating Board for Higher Education deals with Missouri's public and private universities, colleges and vocational schools.
Sims served as a state senator from 1995 to 2003 before leaving because of term limits.
If confirmed by the Missouri Senate, Sims would serve on the higher education board until June 27, 2016.
