COLUMBIA — If you’re looking for a party Saturday in St. Louis before Missouri opens up its football season against Illinois, the Mizzou Alumni Association has you covered.
In a parking lot between Sixth Street and Convention Center Plaza, just a few steps away from the south entrance to the Edward Jones Dome, 10,000 to 15,000 Tiger fans tailgated before last year's Arch Rivalry game between Missouri and Illinois. This year, the alumni association once again invites fans to its "Mizzou Headquarters" in the same lot.
The lot will open at 9 a.m. and Marching Mizzou will start the party at 10:15 a.m. alongside the Golden Girls, cheerleaders and Truman the Tiger. The event is free and open to the public.
MU Chancellor Brady Deaton and Athletics Director Mike Alden will speak at the rally before the 11:30 a.m. kickoff.
From last year’s Arch Rivalry game, Metromix St. Louis has a photo gallery of the tailgating and a previous Missourian report profiled an avid Illini fan.
