GULF OIL PLATFORM SPILL: What others are saying

An offshore oil platform owned by Mariner Energy of Houston exploded on Thursday. The rig is west of the site of the Deepwater Horizon accident and about 80 miles south of Vermillion Bay, La.

An oil platform exploded Thursday morning 80 miles south of Vermilion Bay off the coast of Louisiana. Thirteen people were on the platform when it exploded. All 13 have been rescued and taken to another platform until the coast guard arrives. The platform was not producing when the explosion occurred.
