COLUMBIA — The Columbia College women's volleyball team lost 25-19, 21-25, 25-23, 25-12 to Texas-Brownsville on Saturday in the final match of the Quality Inn Classic at the Arena of Southwell Complex. The Cougars finished the tournament 3-1, while the Scorpions won at 4-0.
The Cougars had easily won their first three matches of the tournament, defeating Friends University, Lindenwood University on Friday and Wiley College earlier Saturday. But eighth-ranked Texas-Brownsville proved too tough for the Cougars. After narrowly losing the third game because of multiple missed serves, the Cougars ran out of energy in the fourth game.
The victory against Lindenwood was the 1,000th for the Columbia College volleyball program since its inception in 1983. After Saturday’s results, the overall record for the Cougars is 1,001-246.
