PrintCOLUMBIA — A woman fractured her face, neck and skull, and “is experiencing swelling and bleeding,” after falling at Quinton's Bar & Deli on Saturday evening.
The woman fell from an internal stairwell in the bar, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.
Preliminary tests showed that the 19-year-old woman’s blood alcohol concentration was “four times the legal limit,” according to the release. However, the legal drinking age in Missouri is 21 years old.
The Police Department is still investigating where the woman consumed the alcohol, the release stated.
An unnamed caller initially called the police about the incident but hung up. The Columbia Fire Department arrived first on the scene and found the woman. Police started arriving at 4:59 p.m. She was brought to University Hospital at 5:07 p.m. and is being stabilized, according to the release.
After investigating the location, officers identified two possible witnesses and brought them to the Police Department around 6 p.m.
Further investigation also took place at University Hospital.
The Police Department will not be releasing the woman's name until her family has been notified, the release said.

Gee underage drinking downtown Columbia who would have thought? Maybe City Council should pass an ordinance forcing each bar with in the City Limits to have a Certified Bouncer/Security Person at the door checking ID's since it is obvious the bar owners cannot be responsible enough to do as such.

@Ro Sila that Liquor License means that the bar owners have a lot of responsibility for their customers that goes far beyond posting the Liquor License behind the cash register and allowing it to collect dust.
So Carlos, are you declaring the person who became inebriated and injured herself is completely not to blame in this situation?
@John Schultz not excusing this lady at all but the Liquor License Holder has more responsibility than the customer in some cases like these. Have you ever read all of the rules and guidelines that go with a Liquor License John? It goes far beyond just hanging that License on the wall so people can see it.
Have you read the rules and guidelines? Don't ask me to do the homework if you haven't yourself. Where is the responsibility of her presumed friends? No, I don't think the license holder is the only, and perhaps not main party at fault here, but I'm sure their insurance policy will be sought as if they were.
Just because she was a 19 -year-old at a bar, does not mean the bar is at fault. Have you heard of a fake ID?
