COLUMBIA – As the date of Sept. 18, 2010 draws near, it reminds me of a very sad day for myself and much of Central Missouri.
One year ago on that date, the final show of “Pepper and Friends” aired. The plug was pulled by Marty Sidall, the General Manager of KOMU/Channel 8.
Since that date I have not watched KOMU. Instead, I get my local news from other sources. When I want to view local news, I now turn on other local TV stations. When I want to read local news, I open up the page of your wonderful newspaper. When I want to hear local news I tune in to KBIA/91.3 FM on the radio. And when I want to find out what is going on in our community and surrounding communities, I tune into KBIA’s “Radio Friends with Paul Pepper.”
I am so happy that Pepper can be heard on KBIA FM Monday through Friday at 8:50 a.m. Thank you KBIA for recognizing the importance of keeping our community informed by someone who has been a treasure to our community for 41 years now.
In closing, thank you Pepper for continuing to care about our community so much to still keep us informed.
Nancy J. Atkinson is a Columbia resident.
