COLUMBIA — Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred a little after 11 a.m. Monday at 219 Anita Court.
According to a news release from the Columbia Police Department, the apartment resident's boyfriend shot and killed her ex-boyfriend, 21, when he arrived at the apartment. The ex-boyfriend had two wounds on the lower abdomen, two on the back of the torso and one near the base of the skull. He was dead on the scene, according to the release.
The deceased was Crestful J. Williams, according to a police news release.
The woman, 22, also was shot once in the leg. Her current boyfriend, 22, cooperated with officers and was taken to the police department to be interviewed by detectives.
A neighbor also was injured when he went to the apartment after hearing shots and was assaulted by another man who tried to enter the apartment after the shooting, according to the news release.
Officers recovered three handguns from the scene but are uncertain whether more than one gun was fired, according to the release. Members of the Police Department's Forensic Evidence Team were still on the scene as of 3 p.m. Monday. Officers are treating the case as a homicide, according to the release. An arrest of the suspect is expected, according to the news release.
The department said it will not release the names of parties involved until family has been notified.
