JEFFERSON CITY— Missouri is holding a statewide food drive to help honor the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Missouri's observation of the ninth anniversary of 9/11 is intended to remember the victims, show appreciation for emergency responders and promote public service. The food drive is organized by the Missouri Community Service Commission.
The Missouri Food Bank Association says donating food to help the hungry can help Missourians channel the unity they felt after the 2001 attacks on New York's World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
There will also be a ceremony at the Capitol in Jefferson City on Friday.
