COLUMBIA — “Today” show viewers are voting on the wedding dress and tuxedo for Melissa McMillin, 21, and Jeremy Gebhardt, 22, who won the “Today” show’s wedding competition last month. Viewers have four dress and tuxedo options from which to choose, and the winning outfits will be announced next week.
Gebhardt, who has been stationed in Afghanistan with the U.S. Air Force for the past six months, will wear military wedding attire during the ceremony. He will wear the tuxedo viewers select for the reception.
Each week, viewers are voting on a different aspect of the wedding.
Week 1: Neil Lane wedding bands selected
Week 2: Hudson Terrace chosen as reception venue
Week 3: Voting is underway for McMillin and Gebhardt's dress and tuxedo, to be announced next week.
Week 4: Bridesmaids' dresses
Week 5: Dessert
Week 6: Honeymoon location
The "Today" show invites viewers to follow the progress on Facebook and to share their own wedding memories.
The reception will be at Hudson Terrace, which has a view of the Hudson River and the USS Intrepid, according to the “Today” show's website. The location was announced this morning. Hudson Terrace was one of three possible venues including Gotham Hall and the Central Park Zoo.
The winning rings were announced last week. Viewers selected the Neil Lane set, designed by a jeweler based in Los Angeles.
With his deployment over, Gebhardt is traveling from Afghanistan to Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska today. McMillin said that his plans are not set for sure, but he will probably travel straight from Alaska to New York for the Sept. 30 wedding.
