COLUMBIA – Young children and their parents will have a chance to learn about health concerns, good eating habits and exercise on Saturday at the Healthy Families Fun Fair.
Thirty-five learning stations with more than 40 health, fitness and nutrition experts will be available to answer questions, do a variety of tests and offer fun activities, said Sean Spence, coordinator of the event, in a news release.
Learning stations include booths showcasing the Boone County Sheriff's Department, Columbia Farmers' Market, Bu Ting Xi Kung Fu Academy and Lynn Maloney Acupuncture.
The Kung Fu Academy will promote and educate the public about Chinese martial arts such as tai chi.
Nasopure, a company that manufactures nose-cleaning kits, will give a demonstration at its station. The company's device cleans nasal passages with a squirt bottle.
“Nasal problems are very common among children," Hana Solomon, a board certified pediatrician and the founder of Nasopure, said.
Sessions lasting 30 minutes each will include assessments for asthma and allergies and a kung fu exhibition.
There will also be free language screenings and hearing tests.
The fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Stoney Creek Inn, 2601 S. Providence Road.
More information is available at the fair's website.
