Multiple thefts from cars under investigation in Columbia

COLUMBIA — Columbia residents have reported six thefts from parked cars in the past two days, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.
- At about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, officers investigated two thefts from cars parked in the lot of the Academy of Fine Arts, 3210 S. Providence Road. The suspect vehicle involved in this incident is described as a 2010 black Chevrolet Tahoe with dark tinted windows.
- At approximately 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to three reports of theft from cars parked outside Jazzercise, 120 E. Nifong Blvd.
- On Wednesday, officers responded to a theft from a car parked at Green Meadows Day Care, 1000 W. Green Meadows.
The vehicles were left unlocked in all of these incidents. Most of the items taken were purses and their contents, including wallets, bank cards, drivers licenses and money, the release said.
