COLUMBIA — Columbia Police arrested suspended MU tailback Derrick Washington on suspicion of third-degree domestic assault, a misdemeanor, early Sunday morning. Washington was arrested after he allegedly struck his ex-girlfriend several times in the face with his fist.
Columbia police were called to the victim's apartment at the Grindstone Canyon apartment complex at 1:22 a.m. Police then arrested Washington at his home on La Mesa Drive in Columbia at 3 a.m., according to police reports. Police found Washington sleeping and arrested him without incident.

Jill Wieneke, Columbia Police Department public information officer, said that Washington and the victim had a relationship for three years.
Wieneke also wrote in an e-mail that the victim had swelling on her face and head, as well as blood around her nose and on her clothing.
Washington was released Sunday morning after posting $1,000 bail.
Washington and his attorney Christopher Slusher have not returned phone calls seeking comment.
Missouri Revised Statute 565.074 says a person commits third-degree domestic assault when he or she does any of the following:
- Recklessly physically injures someone, or attempts to do so.
- Uses a deadly weapon or instrument to injure the other person with criminal negligence.
- Purposely places the other person in "apprehension of immediate physical injury by any means."
- Acts recklessly and creates a "grave risk of death or serious physical injury."
- Makes contact while knowing the other person would find that contact offensive.
- Knowingly attempts to isolate the other person by limiting access to other people, "telecommunication devices or transportation."
The arrest comes less than two weeks before the former starting tailback is to be arraigned for felony charges of deviate sexual assault.
Washington is scheduled to be arraigned on sexual assault charges at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 22.
Coach Gary Pinkel indefinitely suspended Washington on Aug. 26. Pinkel permanently suspended the tailback when the Boone County Prosecutor's Office brought the felony charges against Washington on Aug. 30.
MU athletics department policy states that a player cannot play with his/her team while facing felony charges. The permanent suspension does allow Washington to keep his athletic scholarship.

I have supported DWash since he was "permanently suspended" without due process, but this is just dumb, dumb, dumb!
He should be asked to leave the community. Scum of the earth.
No bargains allowed on this one. And, strip him of his scholarship, while you're at it, because obviously he is no scholar. . .

All darkness will be brought to light. Not saying your not the victim's friend Lane but we don't know you. We're just all random faces behind keyboards. You could be some random person that has a personal vendetta against Mr. Washington from a past experience and this could be your way of acting out. You could be telling the truth. Again we don't know. That's why I agree with Ally. Only God knows what has really happened between Mr. Washington and his relations. Hopefully there will be Justice. Either way.
