Hearnes inducted into Hall of Famous Missourians

JEFFERSON CITY — The late Gov. Warren Hearnes is being inducted into the Hall of Famous Missourians.
A bronze bust of Hearnes is to be unveiled at the Capitol on Wednesday as Missouri lawmakers convene for their annual veto session.
Hearnes died last August.

He was the first Missouri governor to serve consecutive terms and was in office from 1965 until 1973. He was also notable for serving in all three branches of Missouri government — as a House member, as governor and secretary of state, and as a circuit judge.
The bust of Hearnes will be displayed in the Capitol's third-floor rotunda. Inductees into the Hall of Famous Missourians are selected by House speakers.
