'Today' show wedding couple taste cakes; bridesmaid dresses picked

Each week, viewers vote on different aspects of the wedding, including rings, reception location and wedding dress. COLUMBIA — Rings? Check. Reception venue? Check. Bride and groom outfits? Check.

Bridesmaid and flower girl dresses can also be checked off the planning list for a local couple's upcoming wedding on the “Today” show.

For the past few weeks, “Today” show viewers have planned the wedding of Melissa McMillin, 21, and Jeremy Gebhardt, 22. The show revealed the winning bridesmaid dress Wednesday morning.

Viewers chose from four bridesmaid and flower girl dress combinations, and the “Old Hollywood” style won. McMillin’s bridesmaids will wear gray Bari Jay dresses. Her flower girl will dress in Fox ‘n Lily.

With the wedding eight days away, viewers can now vote on the cake. McMillin and Gebhardt sampled four cakes Wednesday on the show. There will be a large cake and 150 miniature individual cakes at the wedding for guests.

Viewers can also vote for a “personal touch” item: a wrap for each female wedding guest to wear, a personalized menu for each guest, or a wish box in which guests can put written wishes for the couple.

Viewers will vote on the couple’s honeymoon location next week. The location will be announced on the day of the wedding, Sept. 30.
