COLUMBIA — With a blank face, former MU tailback Derrick Washington rose from where he was seated with his parents and kicked open the swinging doors that led to the judge's podium.
Washington, dressed in a black, pinstripped suit and a yellow tie, stood completely still with his hands in his pockets before Boone County Circuit Court Judge Deborah Daniels.

Thursday's court appearance was in response to a motion the state filed Sept. 14, to revoke bonds on both the felony charge of deviate sexual assault and the two misdemeanor charges of third-degree domestic assault.
The state filed the motion to revoke the felony bond after Washington was arrested on suspicion of hitting his ex-girlfriend several times in the face on Sept. 12, Boone County Assistant Prosecutor Andrea Hayes said.
Hayes requested Washington's bond be increased from $4,500 to $25,000 on the felony charge and from $1,000 to $5,000 for each misdemeanor charge for a total of $35,000.
Defense attorney Christopher Slusher—of Holder, Susan and Slusher— argued that his client has been involved in disciplinary processes with MU and is living in Kansas City, which removes him from his ex-girlfriend's immediate vicinity.
Slusher also said Washington is not a flight risk.
Daniels denied the request to increase the bond of the felony charge but ruled in favor of the request to increase the bond for both misdemeanors.
Daniels required that Washington appear for every court appearance and have no contact with the women from either case. She also said that he is not allowed to violate any laws, including speeding tickets.
To this, Washington mumbled, "Yes, Ma'am."
Washington was taken into custody until he can pay the $10,000 bond.
A preliminary hearing is set for the domestic assault charges at 2 p.m. on Nov. 5.
