COLUMBIA — A two-car accident at 450 Rogers St. left one woman injured on Monday afternoon.
A purple 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix and a red 2004 GMC Yukon crashed through a fence that surrounds the practice field of Jefferson Junior High, a Columbia Fire Department news release stated. The football team was practicing but no one at the practice was injured.
The driver of the Yukon attempted to leave the scene of the accident by running into Douglass Park, but he was apprehended by officers shortly after, according to Columbia Police.
Police and fire crews arrived on the scene around 4:15 p.m.
The woman who was driving the Grand Prix was injured and crews spent 10 minutes removing her from the car, according to the news release. They were able to open the driver’s door and pull her out. There were no other passengers in either vehicle.
The 28-year-old woman was taken by ambulance to University Hospital.
