COLUMBIA — Propelled by junior forward's Edgar Reyna's hat trick, the Columbia College men's soccer team entered American Midwest Conference play with a 5-1 win Wednesday night over visiting Harris-Stowe State.
Reyna, last week's AMC offensive player of the week, scored twice in the first half from long range, putting Columbia College ahead 2-0. His third came when he flicked in junior Jimmy Herrman's cross in the second half.
Reyna now is the Cougars' top scorer on the season with a total of five goals, all coming in the past three games.
Juniors Dylan Barduzzi and Parker Rawdon also recorded goals in the second half.
Freshmen goalkeeper Matt McKenna got his first taste of college play in front of the net, replacing senior Ken Searles at the beginning of the second half.
The Cougars improve to 5-3 overall.
