TODAY'S QUESTION: Will you download the Roots 'N' Blues 'N' BBQ smartphone app?

The Roots 'N' Blues 'N' BBQ festival released applications this year that will allow fans to access information about the festival and the artists playing through their smartphones.

The application has several different features, including interactive maps of the festival and downtown areas, a customizable schedule of the groups performing and a feature that allows users to see which artist is performing on each stage. There is no charge for the app.

  • Shemekia Copeland takes the MPIX stage at the 2010 Roots 'N' Blues 'N' BBQ on Friday, Oct. 1. Copeland and her band were the first to perform at the MPIX stage during the festival.

This is the first year that the festival has had an application available, and coordinators are interested in how the public will feel about the app.

"I think it's going to be fun to see how people react to it and use it," said Steve Sweitzer, one of the partners at Thumper Entertainment, which plans the festival.
