Missouri softball wins a pair of games on Saturday against Columbia College and Johnson County Community College.
The Tigers beat the Cougars 3-1, and Johnson County 12-0.
Against Columbia College, the first five innings passed without a score, but a wild pitch allowed the Cougars to advance to third, setting up a double, and the first run of the game.
Mizzou quickly came back and Shana White hit a single to center field, and then stole second base. Abby Vock then got a hit, allowing she and White to tie the game. Rhea Taylor followed with a triple, scoring Vock and giving Mizzou the 2-1 lead. Jenna Marston doubled and then scored on an error to put the Tigers up 3-1.
Kristin* Nottelmann threw 5.2 strong innings for the Tigers, striking out 10 and walking none. Ashley Fleming* pitched a perfect 1.1 innings for the save.
The Tigers wanted to make sure that the second game against Johnson County would not be such a struggle.
Kathryn* Poet got a two-run hit over the left field wall, giving Mizzou an early lead. Mizzou earned another three runs in the third, for a 5-0 lead.
In the sixth inning, Princess Krebs hit a single and stole second with two outs, setting up Maddison Ruggeberg for a double, giving the Tigers the 6-0.
Shana White, Ashlie* Ortega scored leading the team 8-0.
Then Poet hit a single up the middle to get another run and Krebs hit a two-run double to put the Tigers up 11-0. Krebs later scored on a wild pitch, ending the game 12-0.
Lisa Simmons won the game against Johnson County with five shutout innings. She allowed only two hits, two strikeout and no walks.
