TODAY'S QUESTION: How would you like to see the Maplewood Barn rebuilt?

The Historic Preservation Commission and the city Parks and Recreation Department met Tuesday afternoon to continue negotiations for rebuilding the historic Maplewood Barn that burned down five months ago.

Parks and Recreation met with the commission Sept. 7 and presented two different replacement options, but neither were approved by the commission. The commission claimed that these options didn't preserve the historic nature of the barn, which has been around since the 1880s.

Commission Chairman Brian Treece said that he wasn't opposed to modern elements for the rebuilding, but he wants to build a barn, not a theater.

By the end of the meeting, the two groups agreed that the new structure should resemble the old Maplewood Barn, but the commission will continue to discuss the interior.
