COLUMBIA — The brother of U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill faces a felony drug charge stemming from a January incident near a Columbia nightclub he co-owns.
Court documents show 46-year-old Will McCaskill was found unconscious Jan. 5 outside a restaurant near Generic, his nightclub. He was taken to a hospital with a cut above his eye and a large bruise. Police said they found a paper with a substance that later tested positive for cocaine.
Will McCaskill was charged in August with drug possession. He was arrested Wednesday night in his hometown of Holts Summit and released on $4,500 bond.
Sen. McCaskill said Thursday she's disappointed and the law should treat her brother no differently than anyone else. The Democratic lawmaker is a former county prosecutor.
Will McCaskill did not immediately respond to messages left at his business.

("Sen. McCaskill said Thursday she's disappointed and the law should treat her brother no differently than anyone else.")
Disappointed at what? That there's been no family intervention prior to this arrest?
Instead of focusing on concerns over "special treatment" this could've been an opportunity to address how insidious and addictive drugs like cocaine happen to be.
"Special Treatment" should be getting help for the addict.
Politically astute to distance yourself from a sibling felon is one thing. Publicly addressing addiction and drug laws would be much more genuine.
Of course, after seeing McCaskill in action at those ObamaCare "Town Meetings" I'm not surprised. No sensitivity to the attendees was demonstrated during those sessions as well.
Heck, even Jimmy Carter through his brother Billy a bone. (Or was that a beer?)
