COLUMBIA - Mizzou’s black team came from behind and won 5-4 Thursday night at Taylor stadium.
The Black team trailed 1-0 in the bottom of the ninth, until sophomore Eric Anderson walked and eventually scored on senior Ryan Ampleman's single, forcing the game into extra innings.
The 10thinning started with runners on each base to speed up play, and the gold squad's Ben Turner walked to force the go-ahead run. Gold took a 4-1 lead after freshman Dillon Everett sacrificed and junior Russel LaFleur's ground out resulted in a run.
Freshman Sal Belfonte doubled in two runs and junior Conner Mach had one, which tied the game at four. Ryan Gebhart scored the game-winning run on an RBI single from Anderson.
Zack Hardoin started for the black team and Jeff Scardino for the gold. Hardoin struck out nine in six innings with one earned, while Scardino struck out six in six scoreless innings.
The gold team won the first game of the series 7-1 Wednesday night.
Game 3 of the Fall World Series will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Taylor Stadium.
