COLUMBIA — Two days before the release of the latest film installment in the Harry Potter series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1," the Mizzou quidditch team gathered on Francis Quadrangle for its first scrimmage, using brooms that team members had decorated the previous week.
According to the International Quidditch Association, there are more than 75 active collegiate Quidditch teams in the United States alone, as well as teams in Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South America and Asia.

- “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part One” opens in theaters at 12:01 a.m. Friday. The film is the seventh installment in the film series. The eighth film, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part Two” will be released July 15, 2011. The previous six films have grossed more than $1.7 billion since 2001.
