The Rock Bridge boys soccer team came up short 2-0 in the state semifinals to Rockhurst Friday in St. Louis.
After missing a couple of opportunities, the Bruins were not able to pull of a win. The team had two shots that Rockhurst cleared off of the goal line. Another close call was when Matt Kelly hit the post in the second half when it was still 1-0.
“We played really well though, we got kinda unlucky,” coach Kyle Austin said. “We just couldn’t finish a couple opportunities.”
Rockhurst scored with about four minutes left to make it 2-0.
“I think the season has been a huge success. This year’s team has managed to do things that no team in the past has managed to do and I think they’ve set up teams in the future for success,” Austin said.
Rock Bridge will play at 1 p.m. tomorrow against St. Louis University High.
