COLUMBIA — The husband of a Columbia councilwoman has been placed on two years of probation after pleading guilty to a reduced charge of driving with excessive blood alcohol content.
Greg Nauser also must pay court costs under the sentence imposed Tuesday in Boone County Circuit Court. He originally was charged with driving while intoxicated and possessing a firearm while intoxicated.
The case generated publicity because Nauser's wife, Laura, initially told a reporter she wasn't with her husband during the New Year's Eve traffic stop. The Tribune interviewed her again because a state trooper said in the probable cause statement that the councilwoman was a passenger in the vehicle that was stopped.
Asked about the discrepancy, Nauser said she had just gotten off an airplane and "misspoke."

Do not re-elect this lying person, "misspoken" my arse!.
Sorry should have posted....don't elect her for anything!
Robert, if you would pay closer attention to the news, you would already know that Laura Nauser is not seeking re-election to her city council seat.
Sorry should have posted....don't elect her for anything!
EVER! there, that should make myself clearer.
John- if you would pay closer attention to his comment, you wouldn't have posted at all. He didn't say anything about her city council seat. And he had corrected the 're-elected' prior to your comment.
