Missouri football team rolls past Kansas

KANSAS CITY — The Missouri football team concluded its regular season with a 35-7 win over Kansas on Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

The Tigers opened the game with a 10-play drive that concluded with a 3-yard touchdown run by tailback De’Vion Moore.

The defense had an equally impressive first series. Kansas went three-and-out after sacks from linebacker Andrew Gachkar and defensive tackle Terrell Resonno on two of the Jayhawks' first three plays. Missouri forced Kansas’ offense backwards 19 yards on the drive before the Jayhawks punted.

Sophomore wide receiver T.J. Moe put the Tigers up 14-0 with a 2-yard touchdown run on Missouri’s second series. A 31-yard touchdown run by Kendial Lawrence early in the second quarter gave Missouri a 21-0 lead.

The Tigers gained 250 yards in the first half compared to Kansas’ 72.

But the Jayhawks regained some momentum in the second half when Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert threw an interception into double coverage on the Tigers’ first drive of the third quarter.

Kansas took advantage of the turnover with a 13-play drive that led to the Jayhawks’ first touchdown of the game. Kansas running back James Sims scored on a 3-yard run.

Gabbert put Missouri back on top by 28-7 with a 1-yard sneak late in the third quarter.

Two interceptions by the Tigers in the fourth quarter and another Moore touchdown run diminished any chance of a comeback by Kansas.

It was the third time Missouri beat Kansas in the rivalry's past four games, and it put the Tigers at 10-2 overall this season.
