SHOW ME THE RECORDS: Daily incident log

Each week, the Missourian highlights a government record that is available to the public. Open records help people keep government in check and help them better understand how government affects their lives.

The records: The Boone County Sheriff's Department posts a daily incident log on its website that lists what calls the department responded to and when and where they happened. Some examples of incidents you will see recorded on the log are calls made about harassment, suspicious vehicles or general disturbances, to name a few.

Why you'd want them: You can look at the log to see what incidents are going on in your neighborhood, or to stay updated on what has been happening in the community.

Where you get the records: Go to the Sheriff's Department website, http://www.showmeboone.com/sheriff/ and go to the sidebar on your left, and click on Daily Incident Log.

How much will it cost: The information is free.
