COLUMBIA—MedZou has entered in the Pepsi Refresh contest for another month, and is in 67th place as of Wednesday morning.
The clinic, which serves the uninsured in Columbia, is entered in the contest's $50,000 prize category and would use the money to buy diagnostic services for its patients.
There are several ways to cast your vote:
- On the Pepsi Refresh Project website after creating an account or by signing in with a Facebook account
- By texting "103787" to "73774"
MedZou entered the contest last month and was ranked No. 22 Tuesday night before voting ended for November. The top 10 projects receive funding. The contest runs monthly, but projects can enter for multiple months. November was the first month MedZou participated.
MedZou's Community Outreach Director Alicia Ludden was proud of the clinic's placement last month.
"Every day we just get more and more voters, so we're pretty confident that we can win this thing," she said.
Ludden was confident that the clinic's ranking will be able to move up quickly.
"We started off in the high 30s (in November) and we ended up at the low 20s and at one point we were actually ranked 20," she said. "It was an astronomical rise. Very seldomly does a group rise so quickly in a month."
Voting ends on Dec. 31.
The clinic will continue the competition into January if necessary, and Ludden added it would likely enter every month until it wins.
