The records: The records on shelters for victims of domestic and sexual violence in Missouri from the years 2001 to 2009. The records contain information on how many men, women and children stay in shelters each year as well as how often victims are turned away when there is not enough room. Each record provides different information and categories based on that year's report. Each year also breaks down the number of victims who stayed in shelters in each region of Missouri.
Why you'd want them: The records show how the state is struggling to provide safety for victims. Their number is steadily growing and the shelters are overcrowded. You can see what is going on in Columbia.
Where you get the records: Go to http://www.mocadsv.org/resources/Statistics.aspx, then click the links labeled by year to download the statistics you would like to see. The information will download as a pdf file.
