ST. LOUIS — Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon postponed a planned trade trip to Taiwan and South Korea after business leaders warned it could endanger a proposal to make Lambert-St. Louis International Airport a trade hub.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Tuesday that members of the Midwest China Hub Commission were concerned the trip to Taiwan could anger Chinese officials. Missouri has been working to expand trade between the Midwest and China and hopes to make Lambert Airport a major entry point for Chinese goods.
The Midwest China Hub Commission told Nixon that the Chinese consul general believed the governor's trade trip would affect the ability to reach a deal.

Yet another bit of proof that Nixon has no cojones. Taiwan and South Korea are our allies. China is an oppressive communist regime. Furthermore, free trade with China has gutted our economy.
Good 'ol Jay. I'm beginning to think you're no better than a Repug.
One-term for sure. Too bad we couldn't get a real Democrat. You do realize that almost all of the bluedogs lost in the house and the senate?
People want real change, not another shill for big multinational corporations and a whipping boy who does whatever a bible thumping freak demands (see new draconian strip club regulations).
Louis, is your solution to ban free trade with China?
Do you even know what 'Free Trade' is, John?
I know that telling US companies and citizens that they can't trade with China, or any other country or company you personally don't like (and I'm not condoning China's past actions either), certainly isn't free.
