PrintPresident Barack Obama has come to a deal with Republicans to extend the Bush-era tax rates at all income levels, National Public Radio reports. They would remain unchanged, even for America's wealthiest.
The deal also includes additional benefits for the unemployed and other tax breaks for the middle class.
"Make no mistake: Allowing taxes to go up on all Americans would have raised taxes by $3,000 for the typical American family," Obama said. "And that could cost our economy well over a million jobs."
The president must now sell the deal to Democrats, who were behind the plan extending only the middle-class tax rate and jobless benefits.

Geez, I'm starting to like this President.
He keeps all the programs and policies that I like.
The 'compromise' = spend more, tax less. Not surprising, really.

Oh, I guess it will be bad form to discuss the national debt on a day like this!
I know that those Bush tax cuts worked out great because the debt was much larger before they were enacted, right?
And I know that those tax cuts created a lot of jobs, right?
The good news is.......
These are no longer the "Bush Tax Cuts".
They are now the "Obama Tax Cuts".
The big problem with the Obama-era tax cuts is that they don't fix the fundamental flaw of the Bush-era tax cuts: Too many people aren't paying their fair share. And I don't mean "the rich." The top 10% already pay around 68% of all federal income taxes. It's time for the bottom 45%+ who pay no federal income tax to stop freeloading. The Bush-era tax cuts broadened this base of freeloaders.
BTW, please note the use of the word "era." If you'd rather drop that suffix, you need to brush up on the branch of government that has the authority to set taxes and spending.
