Derrick Washington granted continuance in misdemeanor trial

COLUMBIA — Former MU tailback Derrick Washington's request for a continuance on misdemeanor charges was granted by the Boone County Circuit Court on Wednesday.

The trial had been scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday. The next court date is set for 2 p.m. Jan. 5. This is the third continuance in the case.

Washington faces two counts of third-degree domestic assault after being arrested on Sept. 12 on suspicion of striking his ex-girlfriend several times in the face with his fist.

Washington also faces a felony charge of deviate sexual assault stemming from a separate incident.
