PrintA new road tax formula has been proposed by a Boone County Commission subcommittee, and not everyone's on board.
Under the proposed formula, Columbia and Boone County would receive more money and some municipalities would see as much a a five-digit drop in revenue.
Gary Riedel, commissioner of the Centralia Special Road District, said that he feels his district is being treated unjustly, adding that he might even file a lawsuit to protest the formula.
Hallsville Alderman Jim Bunton also was worried about the drop in his district's revenue, which after five years would go from $51,000 to $19,000.
However, other officials were pleased with the decision, and were thanking Columbia mayor Bob McDavid for giving up some of the city's revenue to help smaller areas.

One might brief the prospective voters on the specifics of the legislation before attempting to garner their vote.
Mr. Allaire, I wrote the article about the proposed formula that is linked under "Related Articles." Are there specific points about the proposal that you want to know more about?
How about the actual formulas? All I was able to see is that some cities had been getting some money and now they might get less and some people are upset about it. I wouldn't even think about making a decision based on what I read in those articles. Would you?
