COLUMBIA — Sheldon Richardson, a defensive tackle from St. Louis, signed a letter of intent Wednesday to attend Missouri. Richardson, who graduated from Gateway Tech High School in St. Louis in 2009, has spent the past two seasons playing at the College of the Sequoias in Visalia, Calif.
"Richardson is one of the most highly-coveted athletes to come out of the state of Missouri in a while," team spokesman Chad Moller said in an e-mail.
Richardson, who was originally part of the Tigers' 2009 signing class, will join the team in the spring. Rivals.com ranked Richardson as the No. 3 junior college prospect in the country at any position.
Although Richardson maintained his commitment to Missouri throughout his junior college career and attended Missouri's Oct. 23 victory over Oklahoma, he announced Nov. 11 that he'd changed his commitment to the University of Southern California. Wednesday's announcement reversed that decision.
