COLUMBIA— Snow was expected to begin by late Monday morning with an inch or two accumulation by 6 p.m. Monday, a forecaster for the National Weather Service said.
Mark Britt of the National Weather Service in St. Louis said motorists should be careful during the evening commute. "If people are driving home from school or work, they just need to keep winter weather tips in mind: Remember to drive slow and take extra time to get to your destination."
Columbia was under a winter weather advisory through noon Tuesday for 3 to 6 inches of snow, with higher amounts possible.
The cold temperatures of the ground will contribute to the accumulation of snow, which can quickly make roads dangerous.
