The records: This document from the NCAA breaks down the individual sources of athletics departments' revenues for FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision, formerly Division 1-A) schools.
Why you’d want them: In this college town and in the country, athletics are a huge part of the culture. Seeing the individual breakdown of where athletics departments' revenues come from will help people to better understand the programs.
Where you get the records: The report, which contains a variety of revenue information about university athletics departments, is available as a PDF online from the research section of the NCAA's website. Select the first document, "2004-09 NCAA Revenues and Expenses of Division I Intercollegiate Athletics Programs Report," and refer to page 29.
