TODAY'S QUESTION: What do you think of Gov. Jay Nixon's proposed state budget?

Gov. Jay Nixon warned in his State of the State speech that "times are tough." His proposed budget is slimmer than last year's by a couple million dollars — a portion of the cuts come from not giving state workers a raise for a third straight year and trimming down higher education a little further.

Although he would be cutting higher education programs by a further $64 million, he proposed to reinstate some of the scholarship programs originally cut during 2010. He also said he would widen scholarship's available to high school graduates.

Other cuts would go to transportation and employee benefits. However, agriculture, public safety, health and senior services, and social services would all see an increase under Nixon's 2011 proposed budget.
