PrintJEFFERSON CITY— A Missouri House committee is taking up a proposal to overturn a new dog-breeding law approved by state voters last year.
A bill by House Republican Tony Dugger of Hartville calls for the repeal of Proposition B, which was endorsed by 52 percent of Missouri voters in November 2010. A House committee planned to debate Dugger's bill Tuesday.
The voter-backed law limits dog breeders to 50 animals and requires daily feeding, annual veterinary care and greater access to outdoor exercise. It's scheduled to take effect later this year.
- Voters ratified Proposition B in November, which prevents cruelty in large dog breeding organizations, and will go into effect November 2011. Missouri General Assembly passed a bill last week that changes the original legislation before it goes into effect. On Monday, leaders of animal rights, farming and breeding groups agreed to a compromise, which Nixon supports. Here’s a quick look at the differences between all three.
The ballot initiative was backed by national animal rights groups critical of the state's reputation as the "puppy mill capital." Agricultural groups and other opponents say the changes will punish law-abiding breeders and could lead to further efforts to restrict livestock production in Missouri.

Why does Missouri need elections? Just let the people in Jeff City decide what is best and the rest of you can just sit back and enjoy it.
The bill referenced above is HB (House Bill) 94. Tuesday's agricultural committee public meeting is also reviewing HB 99, which would exempt all existing breeders from the Proposition B regulations, and HB 131, which would gut the new Proposition B regulations.
Today's meeting does not cover HB 281, which would also gut the Proposition B regulations, but in a more devious manner.
These join SB (Senate Bill) 4, 95, and SB 113, which either repeal or significantly modify Proposition B. These senate billss are in committee and no public meeting has been called to discuss these, yet.

More laws to counter other laws to amend more laws and all at the expense of the tax payers. All done so somebody can bask in the glory and brag they can have their name in the hat. Sounds just like Washington politics.

The Missouri senate is holding a meeting on _their_ bills tomorrow, at 1pm in Senate Committee Room 1.
I assume the rush is to try and pull our vote before we even know what's happening.
