Roots 'N' Blues 'N' BBQ retains name

COLUMBIA — Boone County National Bank once again will be the namesake sponsor of the annual Roots 'N' Blues 'N' BBQ Festival in 2011.

The bank began the festival in 2007 as a celebration of its 150th anniversary, and it has been held annually in downtown Columbia ever since. This year's festival is scheduled for Sept. 9-10.

In its four-year history, the festival has attracted more than 250,000 people from more than 24 states and Canada, according to a news release from Andrea Horowitz, spokeswoman and volunteer for Thumper Entertainment. Thumper now manages the festival.

Boone County National Bank contributed a sponsorship fee in order to remain the naming rights sponsor.

“I do not feel the need to share the amount,” said Mary Wilkerson of Boone County National Bank, in regard to the sponsorship fee.
