COLUMBIA — Dominic Hunter has been working for the Missouri Athletics Department's cleanup staff for roughly six months. After basketball games, he and the rest of the cleanup staff will spend about five hours cleaning the seats, hallways and bathrooms at Mizzou Arena.
Q: How many people clean up after a basketball game?
A: Maybe four people will work in the stands, and everybody else will be scattered throughout the building.
Q: What’s the nastiest stuff you’ve had to pick up after a basketball game?
A: Stuff in the bathrooms. People use the bathroom, and there’s some nasty stuff in there, just nasty. Other than that, just popcorn and tobacco. People spit on the floor with the tobacco.
Q: How often do you have to clean Mizzou Arena?
A: Before games, after games and even during the day sometimes.
Q: Has there been one game this season that’s been worse to clean up after any other?
A: Oh man, I'd definitely have to say Kansas State (on Jan. 17). It was really bad after that game. We were in here through the entire night having to cleanup.
Q: What’s your favorite memory since you started working here?
A: Definitely all of the dunks, they have tons of great dunks in here. Whenever (Missouri junior forward Ricardo) Ratliffe dunks, whenever he does get a chance to dunk, that’s my favorite. He’s a big man so he should always get a dunk. (Missouri freshman guard) Phil Pressey, too, he’s really exciting with that little double jump that he has when he goes for a dunk.
